To begin our study of gothic fiction, we are starting with one of the classic gothic tales of all time. Edgar Allen Poe is a celebrated gothic author, known for his ability to write about the uncomfortable and grotesque. The Tell-Tale Heart challenges our perceived ideas and prompts us to work hard to distinguish what the ‘facts’ of the story are.
